How To Type Star Symbol [text] In Word/Excel
Microsoft Office offers a number of ways to type the Star Symbol or insert symbols that don’t have dedicated keys on the keyboard.
In this section, I’ll show you five various ways to type or insert the Star Sign on your PC, such as in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, or PowerPoint) for both Mac and Windows users.
Using The Star Symbol Alt Code (Windows Only)
To do so, open your Word document and move the insertion pointer to the symbol you want to type. Then, using the numeric keypad, press and hold the Alt key while typing the Star Symbol Alt code (i.e. 9733 or 9734).
This approach is only compatible with Windows. A numeric keypad is also required on your keyboard.
The following is a list of the steps to type the Star Sign on your Windows PC:
- Insert your insertion pointer where the Star Symbol text is required.
- On your keyboard, press and hold one of the Alt keys.
- Press the Star Symbol’s alt code while holding down the Alt key (9733).
- To type the alt code, you must use the numeric keypad. This method may not work if you are using a laptop without a numeric keypad. On some laptops, you may access a hidden numeric keypad by pressing Fn+NmLk on the keyboard.
After typing the Star Sign Alt code, release the Alt key to insert the Symbol into your text.
Using the Alt Code approach, this is how you can type this symbol in Word.
Using The Star Symbol Shortcut (Mac And Windows)
Option + 2729 is the keyboard shortcut for the Star Symbol for Mac users. Use the Alt Code approach for Windows users by holding down the [Alt] key while typing the Star symbol alt code, which is 9733 or 9734. To type the alt code, you must use the numeric keypad. Make sure your Num Lock key is turned on as well.
